Visited Hawaii last week and it was a blast. Trip started off flying from New York through Chicago O'Hare into Honolulu. What a long flight, but well worth it!Bummed on Waikiki Beach (in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village where we stayed) with A's family. Good times, great sun.
While A's family stayed back in Honolulu for a few nights, we flew out to Kona to experience the Big Island aka Hawaii.
Amazing terrain there, as black lava covers the land. Interesting to stand on it, as it is like hardened sponge material.
Drove to an active volcano and took the winding road all the way down to the ocean, where lava once flowed. A large chunk of the island washed away just a few years ago! Livin' on the edge, literally.
Waterfalls happen to be extraordinary in Kona, and we were fortunate to catch two, neither of them requiring much of a climb or hike!
