Tonight we celebrated our 3rd year anniversary. Had dinner at Esca! I gotta say the wine was better than the food. Does this piss anyone off out there? Grilled Octopus was great though! My expectations were too high. French Laundry, Babbo, Morimoto (in Philly, NOT NYC), Per Se all solidly beat it.

I think it's all about how you order at Esca. The lobster gnocchi is EXCELLENT. But that weird fish in a cast wasn't so good.

so many Mel's- I thought it was twee at first too! Lobster gnocchi does sound good. i tried to make fish in a weird cast once. it takes like 2lbs of salt!
